Wi-Fi 6 is the standard that has centered mostly in efficiency rather than capacity. It is usually compared to roads: when a road has high traffic congestion, even if the number of lanes is raised, the problem is not solved and traffic jams still occur. The same happens with Wi-Fi 6, we do not need as much capacity because most of the packages sent are small. What we need is to send packages to different users or devices at the same time.


OFDMA technology (orthogonal frequency-division multiple access) can divide a channel or spectrum into a number of subcarriers to transmit data to various users. Furthermore, these subcarriers can be grouped according to the capacity needed by each user.

The previous DTIM system is enhanced, in order to negotiate the idle time periods between AP and WI-Fi 6 clients, making it possible for an AP to have up to 8 different periods to make sure the the transmission of various clients at the same time is not concurrent.
